SERVICE SYMBOLS

Whether this light comes on in yellow or red, this means your vehicle is due for service. Staying on top of your vehicle's maintenance requirements helps prevent larger, unexpected issues from occurring right when you need it.

Below is a helpful guide about your vehicle's service symbols.
CONDITION-BASED SERVICE (CBS)

When this light comes on, an oil service is due. The typical interval for this is once a year (for lower-mileage vehicles), or once every 7k-10k miles driven.

This light comes on when it's time to replace your microfilter (also known as your cabin filter). Changing this regularly helps improve the quality of air inside the car, and helps prevent pollen and dust.

Your brake fluid light will come on once every two years, the recommended service interval. Prevent "mushy" brakes by flushing it when recommended.

Spark plugs are essential to the car operating normally and not misfiring. Depending on what year/model your vehicle is, this is typically recommended with every 3rd or 4th oil change.

When the front brakes are worn to minimum, this light will illuminate - usually in conjunction with the word "brake" on your dash.

When the rear brakes are worn to minimum, this light will illuminate - usually in conjunction with the word "brake" on your dash.

This is your vehicle check light. It is a multipoint safety inspection of your vehicle. While no fluids are exchanged, this inspection is recommended once every 3 years/30k miles to detect anything in the car that is starting to fail.

If your vehicle is a diesel, you will see this light come on when it's time to replace your diesel particulate filter.

This is a vehicle statutory inspection light. It is not performed in California. If this light appears, you can come down and visit us and we will gladly reset it for you!

This is your brake lining light - when illuminated, it means front, rear, or both brakes are due. Bring it in for repairs immediately.

Brake fluid flush is due when this light illuminates. Like CBS vehicles, we recommend flushing it once every two years.

This light will appear when your vehicle is due for an oil, inspection 1, and also inspection 2 services. We've described a summary of what is performed for those services below:

Oil Service is due after the first 10k-15k miles driven. This would include an oil and filter change, and it is also recommended to have the microfilter replaced.

Inspection 1 Service is due next, again after another 10k-15k miles driven. An oil and filter change would be required, along with a microfilter replacement, and then additional inspection.

Inspection 2 Service is also referred to as a "major" service. It includes an oil and filter change, a microfilter replacement, along with your intake filter (engine's air filter), and depending on how many miles are on the car, can also include spark plugs and a fuel filter. (For E46 and E39 M-cars, this service interval would also require valve adjustments)

For SII vehicles, the order in which these services are performed are every 10k-15k miles driven and would fall into the pattern below:

15,000mls - Oil Service
30,000mls - Inspection 1 Svc.
45,000mls - Oil Service
60,000mls - Inspection 2 Svc.

And then it would rotate back to Oil Service. (Please note, while there is no separate service indicator for your oxygen sensors, it is recommended to have them replaced every 100k miles)
